Olga Vasilievna. People like her have a cozy apartment, where everything there is in the fridge when guests arrive, where in the morning you smell freshly baked goods, and the tea on the table is always hot.

She grows basil and peppers on the roof, makes preserves for the winter, and has been feeding people for thirty years, working as a cook in one of Moscow’s cafes.

Fifty thousand homeless people living in the capital city dream of not dying of hunger tomorrow. Their dream comes true every day, because Olga Vasilievna is one of those who has not turned her back on these people.

Three times a week she feeds the homeless at Kursk station. She prepares vegetarian soup, in which it is important to add a little turmeric for flavor, pasta with pesto sauce with basil growing on the roof of the cafe, lush buns made of homemade dough.

With tears in her eyes, she told of the gratitude of these people, and when asked why she needed all this, she replied, “This is my profession — to feed people delicious!”
